Whisked Away with Comfort: Cat Transport and Travel Tips

If you’re a cat owner planning a journey with your feline friend, you understand that cats can be nervous travellers. At Paws Pet Travel, we prioritise your cat’s comfort and well-being during the journey. Whether you’re looking for cat transport within the UK, travel to or from Europe, or even further afield, we’re here to assist you.

In this comprehensive guide, we’ll take you through the details of cat travel and how we make it a smooth experience for you and your beloved pet.

Our Purpose-Fitted Vehicles

Our vehicles adhere to DEFRA standards for transport for cats, featuring purpose-built cat cages and comfortable bedding for solo travellers. We provide constant access to water and a litter tray, ensuring your cat’s needs are met throughout the journey.

Regular Updates and Communication

We maintain regular contact with you during the journey, providing updates and keeping you informed of our progress for your peace of mind.

Preparing Your Cat for the Journey

The requirements for your cat during the journey depend on its duration. We carry a supply of water, dry and wet food onboard. If your cat is travelling alone, you’re welcome to provide a familiar blanket or item that carries their scent for comfort.

Documentation Requirements

  • Bringing Cats into the UK: If you’re travelling within Europe, no documentation is required. However, for cats coming from countries like the USA or UAE, specific documents are necessary. These requirements vary by country; please contact us or consult the DEFRA website for detailed information.
  • Transporting Cats into Europe: Similar to UK entry, European travel requires different documentation depending on the origin. Contact us for country-specific requirements.
  • International Pet Relocation: If you’re relocating to the UK from countries outside of Europe, our Worldwide Transport page provides all the information you need for international pet relocation.

Food and Mealtime

You’re welcome to provide your cat’s food if the journey coincides with mealtime. Cats generally do not eat during travel, but we always carry dry and wet cat food and offer it to your cat during the journey.

Collection Points and Convenience

The collection point will be discussed during the booking process. We can pick up you and/or your cat from anywhere across Europe, ensuring convenience for your pet transport needs.

Group Travel

The number of animals we can transport varies depending on factors such as owner presence and luggage. Our larger vehicles can accommodate up to 5 animals when travelling without their owners.

Overnight Stays

If your cat is travelling solo and an overnight stay is required, rest assured they will never be unsupervised. Our driver will be booked into an animal-friendly hotel. If you’re travelling with your cat, we can arrange a hotel for you, with any additional cost clearly communicated.

Travelling with your feline friend can be a breeze when you choose Paws Pet Travel. We understand the unique needs of cats during transportation and are dedicated to making their journey as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Contact us today, and let’s ensure your cat’s travel experience is a purr-fect one!
